Anything Goes at 7 Kids College Fund

I was up to my ears in green beans and peas from my husbands garden this weekend.  I thought I would dedicate the occasion with Sweet Pea Tilda for my DT card at 7 Kids College Fund.

This weeks challenge at  7 Kids College Fund Challenge Blog Anything goes with a twist of markers.  You can use any alcohol marker on your image and it should be one that is available at 7 Kids College Fund Store to be eligible for the prize.

Here is my card

I know I am nutty over the Graphic 45 papers lately, but they go so well and they are lovely.  I used Tiny text to put Sugar Pea on as my friend Sandy calls everyone sugar so I instantly thought of it.
I used the Magnolia Butterfly set and punched some others to distress with Coredinations card stock.  I used the Coredinations on the Magnolia Doohickey fence as well.

Tilda is colored with Copics and I used the Magnolia flower corner around her also. You can see a bit of the Magnolia butterfly in this photo too.

The inside of the card are Marianne dies with the Graphic 45 paper and Coredinations paper.

So here is a big pot of soup I am making on the left, and also freezing beans at the same time. Hours of cutting, washing, blanching, packaging, and freezing!  Only 2 boys left in the house to help us this summer.  I bet the other kids are laughing as they do not have to do this anymore! lol  Family fun.

I made this awesome soup with everything from our garden, too bad we do not have our own cow for the cream! lol  It was so flavorful from the herbs I used right from the garden, best pot yet.  This is all that was left.

Creamy Bean and Potato Soup
Boil small chunks of potato's and cut green bean until tender, drain remaining water.
Add milk and cream about 4 Cups,  Fresh herbs, Basil, Chives, Parsley. Salt and Pepper.  Fry bacon and onion together and then cut into bitty pieces and put into soup.  Thicken with flour and cook on a low heat until hot, cover, turn off heat and let it sit for 2 hours as the flavors come together.
That is it! mmmmm Enjoy!

Thank you for stopping in to see my DT card.   Please go over to the 7 Kids Challenge Blog and see what the other girls did for their cards.  I encourage you all to enter their challenge so we can admire your work!  I get very excited when I see my blogging friends on challenge blogs that I am part of!
I wish you all a great day!

Water Colored Tag With Gelatos

Good morning and thank you for stopping by today.
Today I am showcasing products from 7 Kids College Fund

I have been searching for other ideas using Gelatos and one I have found is water coloring with them.  In the process I also found a very talented blogger who uses them alot and she inspired me to do this tag, her name is Meihsia.
Please go visit her blog and be inspired.  Her directions are the most clear I have seen.

So here is the tag I made

I cut it out with my Tim Holtz Alterations tag die and used water color paper.
What you do is uncap the Gelato color you want and smear it on plastic, wet it with water and then use a water color brush to paint the color onto the paper.  You can see the pink, blue/green and yellow.

I embossed Tim Holtz stamp images in black and then went over them with more wet gelatos. On the sides of the tag I stamped a Prima image and then Frantaged it.

Here is the metal charm that I also Frantaged and a closer look at the tag.

This was very simple to do and quick.  If you need more detailed instruction please go see Meihsia's blog as she has alot of other great ideas using gelatos.  Everything I used today can be found at 7 Kids College Fund Store and I will link you to each product below.

Thank you for visiting with me today, I hope I have inspired you into making something with gelatos.
Have a great day,
Kelly

Country Canvas

Welcome!

I made a new canvas that I wanted to share with you before I ship it off.
The papers are French Country from Graphic 45.

Here are Prima flowers, scrabble words and a note card on the bottom corner of the canvas.

In the upper left is a mixture of Prima products, a key hole from 7 Gypsies and  ribbon roses.

The big and small scallops are a die cut from Magnolia, envelope edge.  I also mod podged them to stiffen them up since they hang over the edges.

The bottom part of the canvas gives you a good look at the papers, I put brads in the center of the sunflowers. In the left corner is a Prima metal flower with pearls. The bottom fringe is from Websters Pages.

Here is the left side and the envelope edge die is used on the side as well as in the blue section, there are two, big and small overlapping each other.

All the sides are covered in the same papers and then I used Gelatos and Distressed Inks to age, blend and fill in the cracks.

I am so happy you stopped by my blog!
Have a wonderful day!!

7 Kids College Fund Challenge Vintage

I am so excited to tell you  I am a new DT for

The 7 kids  Design Team is so nice and 2 of the Dt's are already my friends.  Their creations are amazing and the store owner is very nice.  I am very happy to be a Designer for 7 Kids College Fund!!!!  I am doing the happy dance!!

My first creation for 7 Kids Vintage Challenge is a CANVAS of course!
Most everything I used is from the 7 kids store

Below are more photos of this canvas after the tutorial

TUTORIAL

I made a tutorial for you so you can make your own canvas using a Prima's Julie Nutting Doll.  I used 2 pieces of DP from Bo Bunny and the Prima doll stamp and a 9x12 canvas.

I stamped the doll onto the DP with expresso momento ink several times. 1 is for the whole girl that I will glue onto the canvas and the others are for patching her dress together.

You can see that I tore the papers up and pieced them together randomly and not perfectly. My doll lays on top also.  I used Modge Podge to glue everything on.

Here you can see the papers on the canvas after it dries.  Now I am ready to blend the papers together.

For blending I used Faber Castell Gelatos and swipe it right onto the canvas. I used my finger to rub the color into the edges of the paper pieces. The blue for the bluer edges and the brown for the other edges which gives it a aged look.
The sides edges are inked with Distressed Ink Vintage Photo using a paper towel to rub the ink in.  You want the color to show so it adds roughness for the vintage look, no perfection in blending.

I used Stampin Up White Craft Ink to stamp on the swirl to the Stampers Annoymous stamp set just around the top edges of the canvas.   The ink stays wet a bit longer and it is thicker so it gives me control while I sprinkle the Frantage on.  Gently I heated with a heat gun the Aged Scarlet Frantage onto the stamped swirls until it melted and not burned the canvas.

I arranged the embellishments on the canvas in different ways to see what I liked.  After I was happy with the arrangement I started to glue them all on.
I adhered all the embellishments with Glossy Accents, it works great, just a bit of Glossy Accents and set it onto the canvas area where you want and it will dry in 5 minutes.

Here on the finished canvas, you can see the Aged Scarlet Frantage along the sides, the Prima Doll with embellishments.  The clock face and clock hands with Prima's junkyard flower are all glued together.
I used Alcohol inks to change the clock hand and angel wings to a green color.   First I applied  Gesso  to the metal, let dry and then  rub the alcohol ink onto the metal and let it dry again.  For rubbing you can use your finger (it stings) or a cloth.

Here are the Tim Holtz tickets, they are crinkled and aged with Distressed Ink in Vintage Photo and modge podged on.  You can also see a bit of metal angel wings,  metal handle, and the Frantage swirls from the swirl stamp.

The doll dress is cut from different sections of the Bo Bunny DP paper.  I put a line of chocolate liquid pearl to separate the paper from the Maya Road pleated tulle.  Under the tulle I pleated tissue tape to look like a skirt ruffle.  I painted her hair with acrylic paint and her head band is done with Frantage.

Here is a look at the bottom of the canvas finished.  A list of most everything on this canvas is linked at the end of the post.  You will be able to find the items from the list at the 7 kids College Fund Store.

Here is the top of the canvas

Just a closer peak at the details

See the textures the canvas has on it.

Here is a better look at how I pleated her skirt with tissue tape.  You just tear a strip off and push on part down, fold like a accordion style and it self adheres.  You want to get the ripples so it is more realistic.  The pleats do not have to be perfect and I made sure the top of them are securely pressed onto the canvas.

If you have any questions about making this canvas or one like it, please feel free to email me and I will  try to help you.  This is a work of art that you could give as a gift or use in your home.
I hope you enjoyed my canvas tutorial today.

Diva's By Design Challenge

Welcome to my blog today, I hope you will stay and look around.

Today is a new challenge at Diva's By Design

The Theme this week is TAGS and I used 2 Shape EZ templates
Gift Pouch and Pedestal Tag
Shape EZ is our sponsor this week!! How fun is that!!

Here is my creation using 2 Shape EZ Templates

The templates work with some of your cutting machines but my machine is my right hand! lol  It was very easy to do.  My paper is from SU wood grain.

I put a gingerbread man sticker on first and then created the ovals from SU punches. The sentiment is a sticker from Simple Stories (last years Christmas line).  I also added a green mesh ribbon too.  A bit of distressing with DI in Vintage Photo and Black Soot.

Here are the stickers on the back of the pouch.  I doodled around them with a Zig pen.05.

In order to keep the pouch closed, I made 4 small holes and put a ribbon through them.  I put a very small bag of candy in it for a very small gift.  The tag was copied on white paper and distressed with DI Vintage Photo and Black Soot also.  I added some stickers from Simple Stories to the tag and tied a twine ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed the gift pouch and tag set.  Please go to the Diva's By Design Challenge Blog and see what the other Design Team girls made with their Shape EZ Templates.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting with me today,  I really enjoy your comments.
Have a great day!
