A Blog Hop With A Difference

Good Morning my friends,

Sharon from Nellies Handmade Cards asked me to participate in a Blog Hop With a Difference so that we can get to know each other more.   Sharon and I worked on Divas by Design Challenge Blog together and continued to follow each other due to our mutual love of Magnolia cards and our other artwork.  Sharon also celebrated a new grandchild this year and has recently completed a 8 mile walk to raise money for a Hospice!  I hope you go visit her blog as you will be amazed!

Here are the questions I will try to answer for you.
What am I working on?

I am painting some of my craft room furniture with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Paris Gray wash over Old White. So easy and fun.

How Does my Creating Process Work?

I create in my sleep! Really! do you ever wake up with a card or canvas all done in your head and go straight into your craft room, well I do.  No wonder I am tired!     My style is all over the place from grunge to elegant.  I love to try new things and work at a whim without thinking my projects through, so I only hope they turn out! lol  Last week I had canvas fever! I did 3 canvases in 4 days and just finished up a few orders.   Here are some of my favorite creations.

Magnolia card colored in Distressed Inks

Magnolia Printers Tray

A Twisted Easel Card for my son who served in the US Marine Corp.

Shabby Chic Canvas

Finnabair inspired canvas

The only canvas I made that I have in my possession

Why do I create cards and canvases?

As crafters we all know the creative mind is not at rest until something is made to fulfill the fix. lol  If we cannot make something then we need to fulfill the fix by shopping for crafting supplies, or Pinterest to relieve our cravings, or at least that is what I do.  I also have a desire to make things people love and give them away to make them happy.  Everyone deserves a treat!

How Does my Work Differ From other Genre?

I am not sure if my work is different, there are a lot of things I make that are similar to others but I never worry about what people think of my stuff anymore.  Over the years I have gained confidence in myself and also challenge myself to do better without competing with other people.  I am here to enjoy my blogger friends who have inspired me in many ways.  If you look through my blog you will  notice that I like a wide range of themes from Shabby Chic to Grunge depending on my mood.  My favorite medium is distressed inks on my cards and I love creating canvases.  I struggle with creating Tim Holtz style tags and altered items so it is a joy to visit my friends that do his techniques all the time.  I work from my heart and I am happy to share it.

Because of my past Design Teams I have made some very nice friends.  Only1of my friends were able to join in this blog hop with me, Karen Gauthier from Thoughts from the Girls blog.  First I want to tell you that due to this blog hop I met another really nice blogger, Penny Mull from 9 Hawks and Dragonfly so you never know when a new friendship will be found so I am happy to participate in this.

I chose Karen Gauthier as I admire her creativity and she is not afraid to try something different.  You may recognize her from 2 Magnolia design teams she is on.   Karen is soft and kind and is thinking of others in everything she does. Her cards are beautiful and so girly girl, fluffy and elegant.  I own one of her canvases and it is incredible.  Karen and I slowly became friends through crafting and now we shop together on the internet and share our ideas over our iPhones, I am surprised our husbands don't shut off our phones!  lol  I hope you go visit her blog Thoughts from the Girls and she will do her blog hop on Monday August 4th.

Thank you for stopping in to learn a bit more about me, I could talk about me for a long time but I don't want to bore you too much! lol  So glad you stopped by and hope to visit you all soon.
Hugs Kelly

Ribbons Fairy Canvas

Well it has been 2 months in my new home and getting used to transitioning visits from my husband and swapping teenagers.  I am lonely with just the 6 year old here right now but I sure have a lot of crafting time since he became friends with the kids in the neighborhood.  I have to make him come home and eat!  My little guy was extremely shy, still is to strangers, but he is blossoming and adapting so well with kids his age.  I love his joy and freedom to be himself not holding back, why can't us adults do this?  lol  I am taking lessons on their whimsy and creative play they seem to enjoy to their exhaustion.

Here is a canvas I made using a Saturated Canary image Ribbon Fairy that I colored in Copics.

I colored my background with Distressed paints and Ayeeda Sprays.

The flowers are tiny burlap from The Paper Studio and I tinted them to match my canvas

The chipboard swirl is from Southern Ridge Chipboard which I covered in Aged Ivory Frantage from Stamendous

I doodled a bit around as I wanted the image to stand out and not get lost.

Here are some beautiful cloud photos taken from my porch after a storm passed by.

There is beauty here all the time.

Have a wonderful day!!

Flight Canvas

Another canvas this week!  They are just too much fun to make but now I have to clean the house, get ready for another visit from my hubby! Yeah!  So this is it for a while.

I used a mask with hearts and Golden moulding paste to make this background of hearts.  The drips are glue I randomly applied. The wings are cut from Tim Holtz Sizzix die Layered Wings from tissue paper.  Then I applied Gesso before coloring with alcohol inks and  Ayeeda Mists.

There are a few metal trinkets and a resin Prima piece surrounding the Kordt and Godt rolled flowers, I love those flowers and knew they would look good on this canvas.

This one is available if anyone would like to receive it, please let me know!

Thank you for your visits and I adore your comments!  Have a great day,
Kelly

Shabby Chic Bathroom Canvas

Today I want to show you a canvas that was very fun and easy to make.  I love the Prima antique bath tub and when I found the big Prima frame at Hobby Lobby I knew this was a canvas for my bathroom.

All I did was wrap the canvas with a sheet of paper and glued it on. Then I distressed the edges and glued the lace and frame on.

Those are Pion paper butterflies and a resin chandelier from Hobby Lobby that I glued on.  The faucet on the top came with the Prima Tub.  I just love this set so I ordered more.

The tub was done with alcohol inks.  I loved making it marble. A pretty Prima flower for the bottom.

This canvas also looks good on a easel but I need to hang it high on the wall so my hubby doesn't get it wet, you know men! lol

Thank you for comments, I really love hearing your opinions and you make me smile!
Have a nice week.

Ocean Colors

Happy Weekend to you!!
A little bit of spare time turned into hours of fun!!  This canvas is fun and inspired by Finnabair's work.  I love how you can spray color all around and watch it run and turn into other colors. I love how the textures come out and some unexpected really cool things appear.  Making a canvas like this is artful discovery of your thoughts, it relaxes me.

First came the Gesso then the Finnabair doily mask......many color changes.

I love the discovery of items tucked away in the canvas

Having a smartphone is great when you are unsure of the direction you should go.  I sent a photo and asked for advice from a dear blogger friend.  It is such a blessing to have a friend you can just text and ask, thanks Karen.

Here is the end result of the canvas, I just love the colors and all the trinkets that are in it.

Hope you have a very crafty weekend or adore some of the new babies I am seeing on Facebook, congrats new grandmothers!

Tilda With Millie The Mouse

Time to get crafting!  The weather here is so beautiful and it is a calm summer day here in South Dakota.  I made a gift bag to put a special canvas in it one day.  My image is Tilda with Millie the Mouse.

My image is colored with Copics and I used some scrap paper that I had already cut and glued it onto the bag.  Just had a bit of fun today and I will show you the gift I made in a day, lol
Have a wonderful day, happy crafting!!

Dirty Jobs

Welcome to my blog today.  I have nothing crafty to show you but maybe a laugh will come out of it?    All week while my husband was here he was doing the honey do list like, putting in Invisible Fencing for 3 dogs,  Reverse Osmosis System for pure drinking water, natural gas line to a new BBQ grill for better cooking, lattice around the front deck, shelving in the basement for storage and then in the garage for more storage and efficiency.  He had to tweak a few things around the house but he thought he had gotten out of the one thing he avoided, changing a pump and alarm in our Septic System.  The last possible minute he starts to work on it and discovers the alarm float was bad and needed a new one, so here is the drama.

No one wants to help Dad so he is setting his stuff out and I am secretly photographing him. hehe

Notice how involved our boys are and 1 is hiding in the basement. La de da......

Tom used his handmade hook to lift the float on the pump to drain what he can out of the tank into the drain field.

Well here goes his brand new ladder into the hole where the Septic pump is. Yuck

He looks so natural getting into the hole, after all he is a plumber! lol

Working on the wires pulling away the float from the pump.

He looks happy in the hole waiting for us to hand him the new alarm float.

Benton will handle this part as it is new and clean and he won't get his white clothes dirty.  He is 19 years old and loves white clothes.  He said he is to clean to help his dad with this job!

Help! Help!  hehehehe  we made fun of Tom the whole time he was doing this.

The boys are joking around and teasing but this photo looked funny to them as they look like they are going to put the cover on the hole over their dad, they loved this photo, silly kids.

Just a few tools and ties to go and it is hooked up.

This is the worst electric job we have seen on a Septic System but my husband can fix it! lol

Tom is done and out he comes..............

  ..............pops himself up and...............

...........over backwards, if only my camera were working as fast as he did his backwards summersault out of the hole.  Pretty good for a 50 year old! lol

Job done and out comes the ladder to be washed off as well as Tom, he is not allowed into the house until the clothes are off and into the wash machine! Yuck!

This was one of the fun events we did while they were all here visiting.  We laughed all the time and I sure miss them today.  3 of us are here in South Dakota again waiting for Dad to return in a few weeks.

Have a stinkin great day!!
