That Sandy!

Today a happy surprise for both Sandy and I, we both received our canvas' at the same time!

All this week Sandy kept telling me she wasn't sending me her canvas, "because she felt it wasn't good enough"! That Silly Sandy This morning she called me to tell me that my canvas girl to her arrived, while we were chit chatting my mail came and there was a box from her, I totally didn't expect it, That Sandy!

So I opened my box and there is her gorgeous canvas she made for me!  I was stunned at first because she told me she wasn't sending it to me. I totally fell in love with it right away.  Sandy thought about who I am and where I live while she created it.  Just look how gorgeous it is!

Sandy has it perfect, muted snow, a beautiful glistening sky, cute  house, little words, fence that looks 3-D, the animals we have here and a cup of hot cocoa.

Look at the detail in the snow and the light shadows around the animal.  Look at that cute chicken sticking her head out from the corner.

You can see the texture in the snow and the shadow of the pig.  The fence is layered and is has a 3D effect. I wish my camera would pick some of this up better.

Sandy has a sweet bird on the fence, look at those holly accents.  I love how she muted the hot chocolate into the canvas.  The kitty is on the porch as ours is too.

This sky is beautiful and her hearts are adorable how they float out of the chimney.  Can you imagine Sandy's mind dreaming this up based on our conversations.  She got me perfect.

Sandy and I agreed to do a exchange of canvas' and this is the one I sent to her below.

I modge podged strips of paper after I colored the background with acrylic paints.  I drew my girl and it is alot like the one in Julie Nutting's book.  I loved that pose so I decided to make one just like it.

Sandy says "Hey Sugar" all the time to me so I had to have it on her canvas.  The text is Tiny Text from Cosmo Cricket.  I used Stampendous fragments on here too.

I drew out her dress and modge podged it all on and then adorned it with pearls, flowers and a leaf pin I won from Julie P.  I doodled around my girl and the words with a Copic multiliner .05.

The bottom of the dress as it bells out, you can see the cut out flowers, hand painted swirls and doodles.

Sandy and I have gotten to know each other pretty well and she has ignited my creativity in many ways.  She is a true southern lady, not the ones in a magazine but a real person who is as humble as humble pie.  Sandy loves unconditionally, does not judge or is not jealous, she really loves people.  She has a huge sense of humor if you haven't noticed in her comments to you.  We have shared a lot of "artsy fartsy stuff" as she would say, the past few months and I have her to thank for awakening my creative adventures.  She is a gorgeous person!

This has been alot of fun to share together.  My heart is so happy today.
Thanks Sugar!!!
Love Ya, Kelly

Bonny Tilda

It is so hard to be good when you have a card on your desk half done.  I am supposed to do my year end paper work for our business, only 2 days to get it in, sooo what do I do, a card!  I just had to finish this one card.  My head is now empty of all creativity. haha

I colored this sweet cherub in distressed inks and used stickles on the wings and glossy accents on the heart.  I distressed the edges and blended SU Cranberry Crisp, DI Vintage Photo and DI Tea Dye along the edges of my image.  Just added some liquid pearls also.

On the right side of the card are Magnolia doohickeys angel wing and cloud. The heart dies are from Papertrey Ink.  Bonny Tilda is on a spellbinder die.  A memory Box die on the bottom.

On the left of card are Magnolia Doohickey heart and tag with charms on them.  On the bottom are the flags and then in the middle is a CheeryLynn die and then I made a honey comb heart with a Tim Holtz die.  The papers are from Magnolia and Pion.

Collage Girl Inspired by Suzie

I have been into a new art love, making collage girls.  My inspiration first started with my friend Sandy.
Her and I spent time on the phone chit chatting and she got me out of the little box I was in. She encouraged me to make Mixed Media canvas's which led to purchasing Julie Nutting's book and then find her blog.  Sandy is knowledgable in different art forms and this one just makes me happy.

I just received a gift from another blog friend Suzie and when I saw the paper in there my brain immediately went to "Canvas".  Last December Suzie and I exchanged cards with a little something extra, so she just sent me mine, (you know how it is, we all get very busy) so to my delight here is what she sent me.

I cannot tell you how how fast my heart was beating but I was thrilled, I love all of it, and now I have one of her most loved tags.  That tag is just awesome and gorgeous in person.  Thank you so much Suzie for the gifts with your tag, you have touched my heart!

I took the paper pad Suzie gave me Prima "Rondelle" and started making this collage.  I only need 4 sheets, rub ons and paint and decopauged it on canvas.

I made my own girl and dress by drawing her out free handed.  I painted her hair and shoes with acrylic paint.  A few pearls and gems here and there and then my scribbling around her.

I hope you enjoyed my canvas girl, I have 2 more to show you but I am waiting for the recipients to receive theirs by mail.  2 other bloggers and me have done these and are exchanging them, so fun!!

Thank you for stopping by today,  I love your opinions so if you have time, please leave me a comment about my collage girl.

Snow Flurry

Good Monday Morning to everyone!

I made a fun card without a sentiment so it could be used for any occasion or I could put one on later.  I used Twig paper from Yellow Bicycle along with Magnolia's Tilda on the Roof and Ski Edwin with snowflakes, only I cut the snowflakes off Edwin.

The puffs on the bottom are 3 ribbon roses from my friend Sandy, she is very generous.  I thought that they would make great giant snowballs for my 'crash and burn' theme.

Here are poor Edwin and Tilda stuck in a pile of snow and flurries flying all over them.
To create the crash effect I used Tim Holtz snowflake dies and border and then sprinkled Stampendous shaved ice everywhere.  I like the Twig paper design which sets the scene among trees and makes it wintery.

Here are the Copics I used to color Edwin and Tilda

When I was younger and limber, I used to snow ski and found myself in plenty of snowbanks!  Oh those fun days with out aches and pains from having fun. lol

This is side view showing part of the inside of my card and some dimension.

Charming Edwin

Ready For The Weekend!
This has been one of those weeks that are thrilling and then stress beyond normal.  The great thing is, it all came to a awesome result!

I have been chosen to be a Design Team Member at Diva's By Design and then a February Guest Designer at Simply Magnolia Wow!  I am so pleased as well as honored to be chosen!  Thank you Diva's By Design and Simply Magnolia for this fun experience.

I made a card in honor of my new DT position at Divas By Design Challenge Blog  I am so thrilled to be part of the design team, I love their Challenges.

Here is Charming Edwin from the new 2013 Love Collection. I paired him with Authentique DP "Lovely",  just made my heart swoon for a Valentine.

The cute mini Valentines and labels are all from the 6x6 paper pad, I am glad I have two pads as I used alot of the papers on this card.

Charming Edwin is colored in Distressed Inks and mounted onto a Marianne Die.

A close up of the mini valentines and to show you a bit of the inside too.

On a personal note:
As a mom and homeschooler of my children, you just hope it all goes great and they grow up wonderful adults.  Well my daughter went through a hard situation this past month and I need to say how proud of her I am.  She handled it all appropriately and kept her morals in tact. All that worry I had this month, well she showed us how to have Faith in her and that how we raised her worked!  I have more confidence in my parenting and homeschool abilities than ever, only 4 more to go, hold my breathe!

Today I am picking her from the airport and we will go to the Mall of America to destress, you know how shopping is the ultimate cure for stress!

Wishing you a very happy weekend!!

Christmas Card for 2013

Hi everyone, The blogs have come to life after the Holidays and it is so fun to visit everyone!
I thought I should get ahead with my Christmas Cards this year so I am starting early and enter a few challenges too.

I used some Simple Story papers and older Magnolias that are just so sweet to make a card with. I made a pull out tag on this one.

On the top of my tag is a ribbon adorned with some berries and beads given to me by my friend CathyLynn.  I have been staring at them for a while now waiting to use them.
Thanks Cathy!

The tag is on the outside of the card and slips into the pocket I made with Merry & Bright.  When the tag goes in, Tildas little feet dangle over the & in the sentiment.

The inside of the card has another sweet Tilda on it and Santa's hat.

Wedding Cake

Today I made a wedding card with a beautiful cake from Magnolia
The card is based on a few challenges that I want to enter and white on white is one.
The color of the cake has to be subtle so I colored washed it with Distressed Inks.

My die cuts are Marianne and Magnolia.  I love stacking die cuts onto a card.

Thank you for leaving  sweet thoughts on my card, I love them.

a Die for a Sketch Challenge #8

Good Morning Everyone!  We have another really fun sketch to do at

Our sponsor this month is WHIMSY STAMPS
Here is the card I created for the sketch

I used Whimsy Stamps postage sentiment stamp on hearts created with Papertrey Ink dies.

The XOXOXO is a die cut from Papertrey Ink and it lays over MME papers.  The corner dies are from Whimsy Stamps.

On the inside are Papertrey Ink dies, hearts and XOXO  and a Spellbinders heart die.

I thought this was a fun sketch to do and you should go on over to our challenge at
and give this a try.  You need to use one die on the sketch.
Our Sponsor is giving away a fabulous prize to the lucky winner!

Thank you for participating and go create!
