7 Kids College Fund Challenge Vintage

I am so excited to tell you  I am a new DT for

The 7 kids  Design Team is so nice and 2 of the Dt's are already my friends.  Their creations are amazing and the store owner is very nice.  I am very happy to be a Designer for 7 Kids College Fund!!!!  I am doing the happy dance!!

My first creation for 7 Kids Vintage Challenge is a CANVAS of course!
Most everything I used is from the 7 kids store

Below are more photos of this canvas after the tutorial

TUTORIAL

I made a tutorial for you so you can make your own canvas using a Prima's Julie Nutting Doll.  I used 2 pieces of DP from Bo Bunny and the Prima doll stamp and a 9x12 canvas.

I stamped the doll onto the DP with expresso momento ink several times. 1 is for the whole girl that I will glue onto the canvas and the others are for patching her dress together.

You can see that I tore the papers up and pieced them together randomly and not perfectly. My doll lays on top also.  I used Modge Podge to glue everything on.

Here you can see the papers on the canvas after it dries.  Now I am ready to blend the papers together.

For blending I used Faber Castell Gelatos and swipe it right onto the canvas. I used my finger to rub the color into the edges of the paper pieces. The blue for the bluer edges and the brown for the other edges which gives it a aged look.
The sides edges are inked with Distressed Ink Vintage Photo using a paper towel to rub the ink in.  You want the color to show so it adds roughness for the vintage look, no perfection in blending.

I used Stampin Up White Craft Ink to stamp on the swirl to the Stampers Annoymous stamp set just around the top edges of the canvas.   The ink stays wet a bit longer and it is thicker so it gives me control while I sprinkle the Frantage on.  Gently I heated with a heat gun the Aged Scarlet Frantage onto the stamped swirls until it melted and not burned the canvas.

I arranged the embellishments on the canvas in different ways to see what I liked.  After I was happy with the arrangement I started to glue them all on.
I adhered all the embellishments with Glossy Accents, it works great, just a bit of Glossy Accents and set it onto the canvas area where you want and it will dry in 5 minutes.

Here on the finished canvas, you can see the Aged Scarlet Frantage along the sides, the Prima Doll with embellishments.  The clock face and clock hands with Prima's junkyard flower are all glued together.
I used Alcohol inks to change the clock hand and angel wings to a green color.   First I applied  Gesso  to the metal, let dry and then  rub the alcohol ink onto the metal and let it dry again.  For rubbing you can use your finger (it stings) or a cloth.

Here are the Tim Holtz tickets, they are crinkled and aged with Distressed Ink in Vintage Photo and modge podged on.  You can also see a bit of metal angel wings,  metal handle, and the Frantage swirls from the swirl stamp.

The doll dress is cut from different sections of the Bo Bunny DP paper.  I put a line of chocolate liquid pearl to separate the paper from the Maya Road pleated tulle.  Under the tulle I pleated tissue tape to look like a skirt ruffle.  I painted her hair with acrylic paint and her head band is done with Frantage.

Here is a look at the bottom of the canvas finished.  A list of most everything on this canvas is linked at the end of the post.  You will be able to find the items from the list at the 7 kids College Fund Store.

Here is the top of the canvas

Just a closer peak at the details

See the textures the canvas has on it.

Here is a better look at how I pleated her skirt with tissue tape.  You just tear a strip off and push on part down, fold like a accordion style and it self adheres.  You want to get the ripples so it is more realistic.  The pleats do not have to be perfect and I made sure the top of them are securely pressed onto the canvas.

If you have any questions about making this canvas or one like it, please feel free to email me and I will  try to help you.  This is a work of art that you could give as a gift or use in your home.
I hope you enjoyed my canvas tutorial today.
