Snow Flurry

Hi Everyone,
My heart goes out to the Hurricane Sandy Victims across the East Coast here in the USA.  I pray for peace in their hearts and strength to carry them through the devastation they are experiencing.
My son and his wife traveled by truck from NC and they will be here in 4 more hours.  They said they seen snow and rain in the southern route they took, but nothing like what the northern coast received.

On a lighter note, my kids are coming soon (so excited) and I want to show you my newest card I made with Distressed Inks.  I used Snowy Tilda and surrounded her with snowflakes.

When I was young and thin I had this exact sweater and wore it with leggings, oh do I wish for that old body back now!
I used Weathered Wood and Pumice Stone for her clothing and Antique Linen with Vintage Photo for her hair.  Liquid Pearls are dotted here and there.
I found the wooden snowflakes at our craft store and used them with a die cut snowflake.  The sentiment tag is a die cut and I used a clothes pin to clip in onto the card.

Surrounding the card is Tim Holtz's Snowflake border and the deer and 25 die cut also.
I used glimmer paper for the 25 and deer die cuts.

Here is the deer and a small wooden snowflake with a tiny matte pearl on it.
On the Snowflake edge die cut I rubbed stickles around it for a bit of sparkle.

The DP is TPC Studio Woodland Winter "Falling Snow"  I love the trees it looked frosty and reminded me of a Country Christmas.

Here she is again, just love this collection from Christmas Story.

One more look

Since my Adult son and his wife, 2 more dogs and my grandson will be here for the next 17 days! I am not sure how much crafting I will accomplish but I will try, I love to make cards, addiction needs to be satisfied.

PIGGY TALES

I have a thing for pink and piggy's lately.  I inked up Tilda with Pigling and paired her with Sweet Piglet.  My DP is MME "Ruby".

I colored them in Copics and stamped script and postal onto the background from Papertrey Ink.  The dies behind her nautical wheeler doily by Cheery lynn designs.  In the left upper corner are 2 Magnolia doohickey tag dies and the lower right corner is a Magnolia doohickey heart die.

I made my pinwheel flowers and put pearls in the center and then added feather's from our chickens.  No animal was harmed in the plucking process: (LOL) Actually they were on the ground.

A closer look at the tags and ribbons above.
Below is the Magnolia doohickey heart but in the hole I put the Sweet Piglet's tail through it, I know it is hard to see in the photo, I used one of my pinwheel flowers and twisted it a bit.

Here they are enjoying each other.

The inside is the pretty paper that I also used on the outside.  I love this page as it was, but one thing led to another and the outside of the card covered all the pretty elements, so I used one for the inside.

Halloween Buckets

I made tags out of Library cards from books.  My friend Sandy made one here on her blog and I loved what she did so she sent me a few to try myself.
This is what I did with them.

These 2 are complete with the pocket and the inside book checkout card. Remember those when we were in school and you had to write your name on the card and the librarian would take the card and stamp the date on it.  Who would have thought that some day I would be crafting with one.
They come plain pocket and white checkout card and like Sandy I inked words on it and then distressed them.

Here above is 1 with the tag pulled out, this one is for the younger grandson and has a list of cute titles for him.  I put on a honey comb pumpkin that I made with Inky antics honey comb paper.
Below is the other tag for the older grandson and is more detailed for scarier scene.  On the front outside I have a Tim Holtz scrollwork die and a honey comb pumpkin with bats. On the left is the inside book checkout card that I made a spider web and distressed inked the card.

Now on the other side of the above tag has a row of tricker treaters and then the Tim Holtz rickety house die cut.  I had to make my own ghosts.  I used Copics to color the image and when you put it into the pocket the kids disappear one by one, kinda like a pull out card on a kids book.

Here is a side view so you can see I decorated the front and back pocket as well as the inside card on this tag.

Lays pretty flat except the pumpkin.

Here is the first tag for the younger grandson on his bucket of treats.

Here is the second tag for the older grandson that will be coming to stay with me this week.  Him and my son love playing together so it will be fun!

I just wanted to share how fun these library cards are to craft with.  Sandy bought them from Funkie Junkie Store in case you would like to give them a try.
Happy Halloween!

Happy Birthday Sandy

This is a Birthday Tribute to a dear friend of mine Sandy

If you love humor you probably have already come across Sandy from Simply Sandy, and she is not simple by any means.  Today is her birthday "Just South of 70" as she would say.  I have been blessed to get to know her since she broke her hip in July.  This women is full of creativity and wit.  She has had a fun and interesting life as well as she loves to get your creative juices thinking.  Sandy's heart is so generous in many ways as well as having a positive attitude.

Many of you creative bloggers, Sandy admires, and speaks highly of.
Please go to Sandy's Blog Here and tell her Happy Birthday.

I am going to share with you the Magnolia Birthday Card I made for her, the Saturated Canary Tag and another tag that I made for her.  Sandy loves tags, she used to study Art, so she is a great critique of our work but would rather make us smile or laugh.

This first tag I used peel and stick cork with script writing that I found at Micheal's.  Then I used script tissue paper and made a tattered floral, the die is from Tim Holtz.  I embossed the sentiment and mounted it on a Cheery Lynn die.

The flower below is what Sandy kept telling me to make, so finally I did.  You use any clear plastic and  cut out your shape of flower.  Use clear Gesso and paint on to the plastic and then let it dry.  Paint your paint, stain or mist chalkboard paints  onto the plastic and let it dry.  I stuck the middle of the flower with a piercing tool, used my heat gun to soften the plastic and formed the flower.  I glued or glue dotted several sizes of flowers together as well as a piece of the script tissue paper to create it.

A closer look at Tim Holtz's Tattered Floral die in tissue paper and the leaves are from Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die.

Sandy loves Saturated Canary images so I thought this one was appropriate for us.  I made a tag and added some features that I thought she would like, even a feather from one of our geese!

I colored them in Copics on Cryogen paper, Sandy is the person who introduced me to Cryogen, oh am I grateful for that!!  Thanks Dear!!  She loves mine and Chris Dark's doodling so I made sure to include it on her tag.  It looks like static from talking too much!

Notice on the bottom the goose feather and Hello Sugar, Sandy always says "Sugar"

Now for the Grand Finale    Magnolia Birthday Card!!!

Sandy adores animals and loves to view photos of them from our farms.  Her Husband is building a cute barn for her to have chickens and goats.  I chose the Christmas Story set because of the animals and the pretty Tilda is about to get bucked.  (humor) I distressed Inked the scene I created.

A closer look of Joyful Tilda

Sweet Piglet and Otto would love a nummy cookie Tilda.

A Simple inside with my Pion Cardstock and a Prima Sentiment card.

Life is so short and we have so many gifts right in front of us.  Sandy and I unexpectedly just hit it off from day one and I appreciate her being part of my life.
Happy Birthday Sugar!

Shaker Card

A Christmas Story Collection has the most versatile stamps.  I made a card for someone who is stressed or ill and needs encouragement from this collection.  My first attempt at a shaker card too.  So much fun playing with Maggies.

I used Heart Swirl, Cloud and Heart Magnolia Doohickeys for the die cuts.  My image is Pixie Tilda, Snowy Roof and Old Swedish Church, all from the newest Magnolia Collection.  They are colored in Copics.  My DP is Carta Bella 6x6 pad "Beautiful Moments."

Because I did not have a die cut the size I wanted for the scene, I had to hand cut this frame with a exacto knife.  I glued Stampendous rose colored Fragments onto the outer frame to add texture. One sheet of clear plastic is what I sandwhiched in  between the frames I cut. The snow inside are tiny beads that I have had forever.  You can see them on the left bottom of the shaker scene.

Here is Pixie Tilda hanging onto the Snowy Roof, we cannot let her fall!

Two ways of looking at the cards layers and how the dimension looks from different angles.
You can see the snow in the shaker in different areas as I moved it.

Thank you for viewing my latest card.  I appreciate everyone who leaves me a comment even though we are all so busy, thank you!

It's A Bear Of A Christmas

Hello friends and welcome to my blog!  I love it when you stop by and visit me.
I made a Christmas card with the very sweet Christmas Bear and a scene on the inside.  I used a wallet type fold and cut the top edge with a StampinUp Edglit and embossed it but then I covered it with the bear and so just a bit on each side shows.

The top is adorned with crepe ribbon from Melissa Frances and a star with Cherry Lynn die swirls.  I added some liquid pearls for interest.
My Magnolias are colored in Distressed Inks, mainly vintage photo and black soot.

Here is the inside of the card as you open it up.

A side view to see how it is folded.

The scene is done in Distressed Ink also and I tore the watercolor paper and inked the edges so it is aged and tattered.  I doodled around the scene and on the trees a bit.

The Sentiment if from Magnolia too and I see I forgot to enhance the color but it is the same as above, sorry!  I stamped it on water color paper and tore the edges, watercolored vintage photo over the entire piece and then edged it with vintage photo and black.  There is gauze underneath it also.

I hope you enjoyed my card, I love to sit and watercolor, it is so peaceful.  I just received my new stash from the new Christmas Story Collection, oh boy I can hardly wait to get into them!!
Have a great week,
Kelly
PS: about my SIL  she is on some heavy drugs to reduce the swelling and size of the tumor before they can operate on it.  She is rescheduled for surgery in a few weeks,  Thank You Very Much For all Your Thoughtful Comments And Prayers!!!!

A Fairytale Anniversay

My sister-in-law (a different one) Janet and her hubby are celebrating a wedding anniversary so I made this card for them.  I could not resist this set of Magnolia's 2010 Fairy tale collection and paired with Prima's Tea Thyme made it look like a story book.

A frilly ribbon from Melissa Frances is at the bottom of her window.

The inside of the card are the happily ever after couple.   They are colored in Copics.

I used Spellbinders die and a Magnolia die.

Naughty or Nice

I found this awesome card on Jeanet's blog wait until you see it!  She made a template for us to download and use, so I thought I would try out the template.  Go to Jeanet's blog here to view her gorgeous creation and see the template so you can try one out too.

I masked Little Tilda,  Dancing With The Stars Tilda both from the Little Xmas Collection and then Sweet Jylehat from the Sweet Xmas Dreams collection.
I colored them in Distressed Inks and embossed snowflakes on the background.  Then I tore the edges and inked them to show a old vintage look.

I thought the Naughty or Nice was appropriate here for the two girls, they looks so sweet!  I used a Jenni Bowlin chipboard button for the ribbon on top of the big Magnolia Star Tag template.

I used Bo Bunny DP and mounted the Star onto a brayed card stock covered in white distressed paint.  I had some snowflakes and tinsel left over from last year and place a little gauze here and there.  A clothespin is holding the sentiments with a heart.
